A dance practice workshop with focus on body contact/improvisation movements led by Lilianna Kane.
In this class we will practice resting as an entry point for patient and present Contact Improvisation practice. We will practice slowing down in order to speed up. We will practice attunement to one another, to the ground, to the space, and to ourselves in order to engage in dynamic play.
We will work with specific techniques for softening into the floor, finding the round surfaces of our structure, moving with the rhythms of our breath, and entering in and out of physical touch with other bodies. We will work low and close to the floor, and move towards higher levels. We will practice falling, and possibly flying.

Bio:
LILIANNA KANE
I am an improviser, primarily invested in the dance practice of Contact Improvisation, and cooking. I am committed to improvisation as a physical practice of asking questions, paying attention, patience and peace. I value the interplay of rigor, rest, discipline and play. I teach and share my practice nationally and internationally, as well as produce and organize international CI gatherings and intensives. I am currently the head chef and a CI curator atThe Field Center(center for performance, dance and multimedia art) in Bellows Falls, VT) where I have the privilege of regularly practicing, teaching, and researching Contact Improvisation. I am deeply indebted and inspired by all of my teachers, dance partners, and dance ancestors, who continually influence my practice.
